Kamimachi district lies on the shore of the Ring Lake, which surrounds Mount Mizufuji. A shrine stands on a hill on the north shore of the lake, and the Tokomizu Town Office is at the foot of the hill.
Along the lakeshore stand the Great Sluices, where the eight great canals begin. Water that has poured down from the summit of Mount Mizufuji collects in the Ring Lake and is divided at the Great Sluices among the canals of the whole town.
The Harbour and the Circuit Boats
There is a harbour on the south-east shore, where circuit boats (town ferries) leave for all parts of the town. Boats to Miuchi (inside Mount Mizufuji) also leave from the jetties on this shore.
The Entrance to Nenomachi
Beneath Kamimachi is the intake shaft, the only way down into Nenomachi (inside the Inverted Fuji).
